Rocky Mountain Counseling Center strives to provide exceptional care and a compassionate environment with a Biblical perspective for every client. We seeks to strengthen, educate, and bring healing to our clients and their families. We endeavor to be a Christian counseling center offering excellence in a full range of clinical issues with face to face, phone or on-line counseling.

How long is an appointment?

Counseling appointments are scheduled for 50 minutes of time with the counselor. Some sessions can be longer at a prorated fee. 

Where are you located?

Rocky Mountain Counseling Center is located in Missoula, Montana. We can be as close as your phone, an internet connection or a face to face meeting. See Location/Contact for a map and directions.

Phone or      On-Line Counseling

We know it isn’t always possible to meet with a counselor at their office. We want to make quality, counseling available to everyone, even if time, accessibility, and distance are limiting factors.   Do you live outside of the Missoula area or in a rural/mountain area and want access to Christian counseling? Do you wish you could use your lunch break at work to connect with a counselor? Do you travel consistently for work, work from home, or are you a stay-at-home parent?

Then online counseling may be a great option for you!

What are your fees?

Our fees range from $50 – $110 per 50 minute session.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not work directly with insurance providers, but we will provide you with the paperwork for you to submit to your insurance company. Many plans offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network counseloring. Contact your insurance company to find out if your plan covers out-of-network counseling services.

What's your cancellation policy?

Appointments must be cancelled 24 hours in advance. An appointment can be cancelled by calling 406-788-5508. Missed appointments and cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance result in a full fee charge for the counseling session.

Do you pray with clients or use the Bible?

Counseling treatment involves many aspects of an individual or family’s beliefs and life experiences including a look at emotional, mental, spiritual, physical, and relational health. Prayer, use of scripture, and other resources are used with the client.

Clients from non-Christian faiths find comfort and hope in prayer and religious writings and may request that these be an active part of their counseling experiences in the context of their personal faith. Non-religious clients are welcome too.

Rocky Mountain Counseling Center is a Christian counseling center. What does this mean? What if I am of another faith or non-religious? What is Christian counseling?

Our Center is Christian by faith, from a variety of denominational backgrounds. As pastoral professionals, we honor the personal beliefs and convictions of the clients we serve. Clients choose if and how they would like to incorporate their personal faith or spirituality into counseling.

Clients who are Christian and are seeking to develop their faith can be sure to find counselors here with grace and spiritual development competence who can walk with them on their journey. Clients can be assured that we will follow biblical principles.

Clients who identify as a Christian and prefer not to discuss the Bible or Christian values or do not wish to include their spirituality in the counseling process will feel comfortable.

When clients walk in the door who self-identify as non-religious, non-spiritual, and non-Christian, they will also feel welcome and comfortable.

How do I schedule an appointment?

If you are experiencing any spiritual, emotional pain or simply desire to improve an area of your life, counseling may be an excellent start on your path toward healing and healthy relationships.

Contact us to set up an appointment. Please call during business hours. We are most busy between 10 minutes before and after the top of each hour checking in our clients. If you are need of emergency medical or mental health care, please visit your nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1

How do I know if counseling would be helpful?

Meeting with a counseling can be helpful when struggling through a new or temporary event, adjusting to situations and circumstances, improving relationships with significant others such as spouses /family /friends /coworkers, needing help with a specific challenge, and figuring out direction in life.

Counseling is also appropriate when various symptoms negatively affect relationships and/or interfere with normal, daily-life functions at home, school, or work.

Consider the following list of symptoms:

• Depressed or anxious mood
• Behavioral or habitual addictions
• Feeling on edge, irritable, or agitated
• Dissatisfaction or conflicts in family situation (including marital conflicts)
• Irrational fears and/or excessive anxiety (such as panic attacks)
• Explosive emotional outbursts or suppressed rage
• Avoidance of social activities, including withdrawal from family and friends
• Significant stress or worry
• Changes in appetite (significant weight loss or gain)
• Changes in sleep patterns (hypersomnia or insomnia) or night terrors
• Suffering from unresolved childhood traumas, including physical and sexual abuse, or neglect
• Dissociation (trauma induced symptoms involving loss of memories (amnesia), sense of identity and ability to discern reality.)
• Chemical dependence (drug or alcohol addiction)
• Acting out in an unhealthy sexual manner
• Self-injury (cutting, burning, reckless behavior)
• Couple or marriage relationship problems leaving one or both of you feeling disconnected

Forms?

To save time before your first appointment and to maximize time with your Counselor,  complete the forms before your appointment. If you prefer to complete these forms in our office, please arrive 15 minutes and we will provide you hard copies of the appropriate forms.

What are your Hours?

The office staff is available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday. Our counselors offer early morning and late afternoon/ evening hours, Monday through Saturday. Naturally, sessions outside of school and business hours are premium to most clients, thus may be more difficult to schedule. 

Is this Center on my Insurance Plan?

Finding the right counselor can be a very hard endeavor.  Finding the right counselor on a specific insurance plan can be even harder.  Over the years we have found that managed care insurance plans can often create more problems than solutions for our clients.  Confidentiality is threatened, fees are controlled by the insurance agencies, and healing is delayed.  At times particular plans do not allow for the best therapeutic interventions, limiting the much needed help that a client is seeking and dictating the entire process of counseling.  All of this happens at the expense of the client.  Therefore, though we work to see that our clients are reimbursed by their insurance carriers, we have decided that staying away from the control of managed care is best for our clients and counselors.

Will my insurance cover my counseling cost?

We recommend that you call your insurance company and ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits. At the end of your session with your counselor you will receive a receipt with the necessary information for you to file directly with your insurance company.  Some of our clients choose to file for reimbursement using their out-of-network benefits and others prefer not to submit their claims for privacy reasons. Your counselor will work with you regarding any necessary documentation needed by your provider.  Please note that payment is due at the time service is provided.
